The short version: DirectoryCodes sets no cookies, runs no analytics, embeds no third-party content and collects no personal data through the website. Every page is static and loads exclusively from this domain. The optional AI assistant runs entirely in your browser with your own API key — see section 4.

2. Server log files

This website is hosted by ALL-INKL.COM — Neue Medien Münnich, Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany, our processor under Art. 28 GDPR. When you visit the site, the web server automatically records technical access data: IP address, date and time, requested URL, referrer, browser and operating system. This data is processed on the basis of Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in operating and securing the website), is not merged with other data and is deleted on the hosting provider's regular log-rotation schedule.

3. Cookies, analytics & third parties

None. No cookies, no tracking pixels, no analytics services, no advertising networks, no social-media embeds, no external fonts or CDNs. The site uses your browser's localStorage only for functional preferences you set yourself (dark-mode choice, and the Ask-page settings described below); this data never leaves your device.

4. “Ask the Desk” AI assistant (bring your own key)

The optional Ask the Desk page lets you query an AI model using your own Anthropic API key. How it works, precisely:

  • Your API key and your questions are never transmitted to us — this site has no server-side application at all. The key is stored only in your browser's localStorage, and you can delete it at any time with the “Forget key” button (or by clearing site data).
  • When you ask a question, your browser sends it directly to Anthropic (api.anthropic.com), together with your key and a short excerpt of matching directory entries. Anthropic processes this request as your provider under Anthropic's privacy policy; usage is billed to your Anthropic account.
  • We never pay for, proxy, log or see any of this traffic. If you do not enter a key, no AI request is ever made.

5. Email contact

If you email contact@directorycodes.com, we process your address and message content solely to handle your enquiry (Art. 6 (1)(b) and (f) GDPR) and delete the correspondence when it is no longer needed.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21), as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77). The supervisory authority responsible for us is the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA), Ansbach, Germany.
