GS1 Barcode Prefixes

The first three digits of an EAN-13 barcode identify the GS1 member organization that issued the number — usually, but not always, the country where the company registered. They do not certify where a product was made. Special ranges cover books (ISBN), serials (ISSN), coupons and in-store items.
